Politically Confused
The Political Environment
Politics are an effect, not a cause. The economic system gives life to politics.
In the U.S., the economic system is Capitalism, and the political system is designed to support and protect it. To truly understand politics, one must first understand economics.
The Economic Environment
Pure Capitalism is the interaction of supply and demand in a free market. In other words, it is the study of independent buyers and sellers. Demand is a buyer with money, and supply is a seller with the desired goods or services. Capitalism is how they interact.
Purchases of goods and services can be classified as either personal or group. Personal purchases would include food, clothing, housing, and your car, to name but a few. You pay the seller directly for these. Group purchases would be police, military, courts, roads, and education, for example. These items are typically purchased as a group because individuals cannot afford them. The local, state, or federal government pays for these services with monies collected from taxes. Effectively, they act as the purchasing agent for the group. This is one way the political system supports the economic system.

Albert Ambs (AA) Retired
Hi, Al here.
I was born in the first half of the last century of the previous millennium. During the nine decades I've existed, I have had 15 Presidents, one-third of the total. I have lots of experience founded on quite a few mistakes, that’s how one acquires knowledge. Heaps of education: two undergraduate schools with six majors, four graduate schools with one degree, and numerous seminars.
I have been a college professor, corporate executive, small business owner, real estate developer, and licensed broker, and in 2010, I managed a local census office. Politically, I have been involved in congressional and legislative campaigns and was chair of a county political party for a time. I have strived for an unbiased political view and now consider myself politically homeless.
